Overview

Chase and Hyatt have teamed up for an excellent travel credit card. THe World of Hyatt Credit Card Review below outlines some of the key benefits of the card.

Hyatt points are valuable at between 1.7 cents per point and 2 cents per point. The card features a free award anniversary night on your cardmember anniversary. The anniversary night feature alone is worth far more than the $95 annual fee.

For more information on the World of Hyatt Credit Card, please see the card details below. The World of Hyatt loyalty program helps keep you connected to Hyatt and affiliated brand hotels of over 750 hotel properties worldwide.

Signup bonus:

World of Hyatt card offers a signup bonus of 50,000 World of Hyatt points for opening the card and spending $6,000 total in purchases within 6 months of opening the account.

The bonus is actually split into two sections, 25,000 bonus points after $3,000 in purchases within 3 months of account opening. Then the other 25,000 points for reaching $6,000 total within 6 months of opening the account.

You can signup for the offer here (link)

Annual fee:

There is an annual fee of $95 for the World of Hyatt card.  The $95 fee will be charged on the first billing statement.

Chase’s 5/24 Rule:

Most Chase cards appear to be subject to 5/24 restrictions, meaning that you are unlikely to be approved if you’ve been approved for five or more consumer credit cards in the last 24 months.  The Chase system does include cards like authorized user cards and store credit cards.  If you were rejected for this card, or other Chase cards, you can contact their credit card department reconsideration line and explain that some cards were authorized user cards or store cards, they can manually approve your application for a new card.

You can check the number of accounts and their age through a credit tracking site like CreditKarma (available both through mobile applications or desktop) – Link.  You can check how many accounts as being opened in the past 24 months.

Card earnings:

  • 4 points per dollar spent on purchases made at Hyatt hotels and resorts
  • 2 points per dollar at restaurants, airline tickets when purchased directly with the airline; local transit/commuting; fitness club and gym memberships.
  • 1 point per dollar on all other purchases

Spend Threshold:

You will need to spend $3,000 on the World of Hyatt card within 3 months of opening to earn the 25,000 signup bonus points.  You will need to spend $6,000 on the World of Hyatt card within 6 months of opening to earn the full 50,000 signup bonus points.  I recommend using your cards to pay for typical monthly expenses.  In some cases, I have pre-paid some expenses like electric bills, car insurance, or internet bills to meet signup bonus thresholds.

Free Night Award Every Cardmember Anniversary

Receive one free night at any Category 1–4 Hyatt hotel or resort every year after your cardmember anniversary.  The annual fee of $95 is paid each year on your cardmember anniversary.  Each year, you will receive a certificate for one free night at any category 1-4 Hyatt hotel or resort.  If each member of a couple both had the World of Hyatt credit card, this can be very valuable for a weekend trip.

An Additional Free Night for $15,000 Annual Spend

Earn an Extra Free Night at any Category 1–4 Hyatt hotel or resort if you spend $15,000 during your cardmember anniversary year.

Other Card benefits:

  • Hyatt Discoverist Status
  • 5 qualifying night credits towards your next tier status every year.
  • Plus, 2 additional qualifying night credits toward your next tier status every time you spend $5,000 on your card.*
