Have you always dreamed of a beach honeymoon? Relaxation and romance, with a bit of adventure and fun thrown in.
Then a Cheap Dominican Republic honeymoon is perfect for you.
You can imagine spending your days basking in the sun. You can see yourself drinking daiquiris next to the pool.
Or running your fingers through the hot sand under your beach lounge chair while paging through a book.
Dancing to Caribbean music after tipping back a cocktail. or three.
Sharing a kiss with your new spouse as the sun sets over an expanse of ocean waves.
This is the honeymoon for you. 11 Days of All-Inclusive paradise, under $800
I know your what inner monologue is thinking, too good to be true. Right?
You are thinking, you’ve done an all-inclusive before.
That gang of eight you went to Puerto Vallarta with and drank and day, partied all night. What kind of alcohol brand is Oso Negro and why did they make vodka, tequila, and whiskey? Epic hangovers. So bad.
By the end of the trip, the only things you could stomach from their “restaurant” was toast with butter and jam.
It was cheap then, but you were four to a room. Well, some nights there were others. But, 4 paying people.
Wristbands, cheap liquor, crappy food. Pass. Pass. Pass.
But, it would be nice to have a vacation where you wouldn’t have to worry about any other expenses. No bar tabs or restaurant bills after spending so much on your wedding.
That sounds pretty enticing. And it could be relaxing. A pool, a beach, your new partner in crime. Drinks. Music. Romantic dinners. Bliss.
A Dominican Republic honeymoon hack is what you need.

Is a Cheap Dominican Republic Honeymoon Right for Us?
Dominican Republic is home to beautiful beaches and wonderful scuba diving. It is one of the most visited Caribbean islands.
Punta Cana and Romana in the southeast and Puerto Plata in the north are very popular with tourists.
Santo Domingo is the oldest permanent city established by Europeans the western Hemisphere. The city has incredible sights with a heavy dose of Caribbean flavor. A perfect escape for those looking for a break from the monotony of beaches, infinity pools, and free food and beverages.

Where will we stay in the Dominican Republic?
Hilton La Romana
The Hilton La Romana is an adults only All-inclusive resort in Romana. The property is 42 miles southwest of the Punta Cana airport (PUJ). The hotel overlooks the beach and the Caribbean Sea.
The property includes five restaurants:
- Chinola (Dominican)
- Sakura (Asian & Sushi)
- Mare (Seafood)
- Noor (Mediterranean)
- Caoba (international and classic).
The Hilton La Romana activities include snorkeling, volleyball, windsurfing, and meringue lessons. There is waiter service for drinks by the pool or on the beach. The resort hosts live entertainment each night.
No cost for food or drinks. This cuts a huge amount from any travel budget. With restaurants and bars to choose from, it is a recipe for a fantastic low cost honeymoon. This property is also beautiful with a large pool, swim-up bars and lounge chairs.
The Honeymoon Hacking game plan is to spend 6 nights at the Hilton La Romana.
You will be able to spend 6 nights at the resort at an average cost of 47,000 points per night in the test runs. You can redeem the points earned from the welcome bonuses of the Hilton Surpass American Express Credit Cards for your stay.
Be careful with Hilton as their points redemption for a night at this hotel can be all over the map. Below is the point nightly averages from the lowest cost room (Deluxe Garden View 2 double beds).
- Oct 2020: 42,000
- Nov 2020: 47,000
- Dec 2020: 47,000
- Jan 2021: 61,000
- Feb 2021: 65,000
- Mar 2021: 65,000
- Apr 2021: 65,000
Looks like Hilton may open up lower point redemptions as the dates get closer and rooms are not filled. But, the net effect is large for this trip. If the average night points value goes above 47,000 points – it could turn 6 days at the La Romana to only 4 days.
Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana
The Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is an all-inclusive resort for adults in the gated community of Cap Cana. The resort has wonderful ocean views, infinity pools and swim-up bars.
The property also features a water park with a lazy river, and water slides. The hotel has 25 unique restaurants and bars so you will always find something new to try.
The Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is minutes away from golf courses, eco-parks, adventure excursions and other attractions. Daily activities are available to keep you as busy with volleyball, cooking demos, aqua gym class and live entertainment.
Another all-inclusive resort for the honeymoon hack!! I saved the best for last one this one. The Honeymoon Hacking game plan is to spend 4 nights at the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana. You will earn enough points for your stay by earning the welcome bonus from two World of Hyatt Credit Cards.
Hacking the Flights
There are quite a few options for hacking the flights between the US and Punta Cana (PUJ). All major US airlines serve the airport. So the best option may be on an airline or using an airline currency listed below. I’ll use American Airlines for this example.
You will need 30,000 AAdvantage miles to book an economy round trip ticket to the Caribbean with MileSAAver award space. The welcome bonus for the Barclaycard American AAdvantage Red card is 60,000 American Airlines AAdvantage miles.
You earn the entire welcome bonus after making your first purchase. That amount of AAdvantage miles will provide enough points to book two roundtrip flights from the US to Punta Cana.
You must still pay taxes for your flights. My test bookings came up with around $120 in taxes per person.
